Kathmandu: The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police has released Dr. Ranjit Kumar Yadav, who had been taken into custody over suspicions of possessing a fake academic certificate. The CIB clarified that Dr. Yadav's credentials as a genuine medical professional have been confirmed, prompting his release.

Superintendent of Police Nawaraj Adhikari explained that the decision to release him was based on the lack of substantial evidence to substantiate the allegations against him. The Nepal Medical Council (NMC) provided a letter attesting to Dr. Yadav's authenticity, contributing to the decision to release him from custody.

Dr. Yadav's arrest had occurred on August 10 in Bhaktapur amidst suspicions of involvement in a fake certificate case. Presently, the CIB is conducting investigations into a broader scandal involving counterfeit certificates, encompassing six other doctors.

The release of Dr. Yadav has been welcomed by his supporters, who have maintained his innocence throughout the investigation. However, the case has raised questions about the quality of medical education in Nepal and the risks posed by fake medical certificates to public health.

The NMC has stated that it will be taking steps to ensure that only genuine medical professionals are practicing in Nepal. The CIB has also vowed to continue its investigations into the fake certificate scandal and bring those responsible to justice.

The case of Dr. Ranjit Kumar Yadav is a reminder of the importance of quality medical education and the need to protect the public from unqualified practitioners. It is also a reminder that the CIB is committed to investigating and prosecuting those who engage in fraudulent activity.
